Laylat al-Qadr
(The Night of Decree)
Laylat al-Qadr, or the Night of Decree, is a special night that occurs in the last ten nights of Ramadan. It is when the Qur'an was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (ï·º) and is described as being better than a thousand months.
How to Spend the Night (Checklist)
Here's a simple way to make the most of this blessed night â even if you have limited time.
Pray Qiyam & Tahajjud
Offer 2â4 raka'at (or more) in deep reflection. Ask Allah for forgiveness and guidance.
Recite the Qur'an
Read, listen, or reflect on even a few verses. Focus on Surah Al-Qadr and Al-Ikhlas.
Make Du'a (Supplication)
Pour your heart out â ask for forgiveness, mercy, and peace for yourself and others. Include the dua: "Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul 'afwa fa'fu 'anni."
Give Sadaqah (Charity)
Give something â even a small amount. Schedule donations for all last 10 nights.
Do Dhikr (Remembrance)
Say SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar repeatedly with reflection.
Seek Forgiveness (Istighfar)
Ask sincerely for forgiveness. Say "Astaghfirullah" and let go of grudges.
Perform Itikaf (if possible)
Spend the last ten nights (or part of them) in seclusion for devotion and reflection.
Reflect & Reconnect
Think about your goals for the coming year and how to strengthen your bond with Allah.
